Donate like it's 1988 - My 30th Birthday

Just like we do for Max's birthday each year, we also serve dinner at the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Primary's in March to celebrate mine. Along with the dinner, I like to come up with a service project. Well, as I was scheduling the date for our dinner for my 30th birthday (March 22), I saw that Ronald McDonald House Charities Intermountain Area is celebrating their 30th Anniversary this year. Imagine my surprise and excitement! I knew what I had to do.

If you're not familiar with Ronald McDonald House Charities:

Our Ronald McDonald House and Ronald McDonald Family Room provide a temporary home-away-from-home that serves and sustains families of children receiving treatment at area hospitals. Seriously ill or injured children cope better when surrounded by loved ones. Our mission is made possible through the help of our partner-in-care, McDonald’s, and thanks to the donations and gifts from generous individuals, corporations, organizations, and foundations. The Ronald McDonald House in Salt Lake City continues to open welcoming doors to families in need, by keeping families close, so that together they can rest and regroup; hope and heal; laugh and love.

I have shared before how blessed we were by the Ronald McDonald Family Room inside Primary Children's Hospital while we were there with Max. It was a special place to us, and we have loved our opportunities to serve there since. Salt Lake City also has a Ronald McDonald House for families needing long-term room and board, nearby the hospital.

So, for my birthday service project I will be collecting donations for Ronald McDonald House Charities, and there are a few ways you can participate.

For those who are local and would like to donate needed items, here is the list of current needs from their website:

  • Paper Products (plates, utensils, etc)

I will personally be collecting items to take to RMHC until my birthday, March 22nd. If you want to combine yours with mine, and know me personally, you can drop things off at my house until then.

Thank you so much for helping me AND RMHC celebrate 30 years!
